About Tegen Jewellery

Hi, I’m Tegen, the designer, maker … and everything else behind the Tegen Jewellery brand.

Based in Cornwall UK but with a lust for seeing and exploring the world. I have been making jewellery since 2002. Jewellery has always been an interest and a passion of mine since I was a child, After completing a degree in Silversmithing and multiple evening and weekend courses in jewellery design, tool making and stone setting I worked full time jobs but doing bits of jewellery on the side gradually gaining  knowledge, perfecting my skill base, and building up my own company, branding and workshop.

My work is my passion and I feel very lucky to have a job that I love and have my custom built workshop at the bottom of my garden.

I take my inspiration from many things around me, having grown up in Cornwall it is hard not to be inspired by the sea and nature but my true “jewellery” inspiration comes from tribal, navajo and ethnic styles of jewellery from India, Native American, Roman and Ancient Egyptians. The Stones used, the stacking arrangements and the detail in the metal work just excites me.

Gem stones are another huge passion of mine, the fact that nature creates these most beautiful little treasures under our feet blows my mind! A lot of my pieces are designed around the stones, I love organic shapes and a when a stone is cut to make the most of that particular stone not to be any specific or generic shape, which in turn makes for more unique pieces of jewellery.

My supply chain is very important to me, I was lucky enough to visit the Tuscon gem show a few years back and made a lot of my supplier connections face to face there, meeting people in person that are going to be suppling gem stones to me was great as I was able to connect with like minded reliable and trusted suppliers in an industry which is not known for its ethics. There is a lot to learn and a lot of research to do before buying gem stones and I believe that if you are in this industry it is our duty to do this research and source responsibly, ask the awkward questions and only buy from suppliers that can comfortably and confidently provide the answers you request.

I am always learning, researching and growing as a brand and searching for the best suppliers to meet with my ethics.

Tegen Jewellery is designed and crafted with dedication, experience and finesse using natural gem stones meaning that each piece is made with love and is completely unique!
